From May 6th to 10th, the final of the International Trade Competition and the Economic and Trade Exhibition Innovation and Practice Competition of the 2021 National University Students’ Business Elite Challenge was held at Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Centre. With the support of the leadership and guidance of the teachers at International Education School, our students won one second prize and one third prize in the national competition, and the College was also awarded as the Best Organization.
The National University Business Elite Challenge (CUBEC) was launched in 2012 by the CCPIT Business Industry Sub-Council and is the leading organization. It is the only international trade event in the list of disciplinary competitions hold by the China Higher Education Association. The competition aims to improve the students' ability to apply their knowledge in the professional field and promote the improvement of international trade in universities through a comprehensive examination of the students' overall quality and ability to apply their knowledge in international trade subjects in the form of a real exhibition.
The National Collegiate Business Challenge has set up two professional events, namely the International Trade Competition and the Economic and Trade Exhibition Innovation and Practice Competition. After internal selection and recommendation by the participating institutions, a total of 210 teams (including 196 teams in the undergraduate group, 9 teams in the senior high school group, 1 team in the international student group and 4 teams in the small language group) from 116 higher education institutions in 21 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong, were selected as finalists with over 1,800 participants and tutors.
In this competition, our team mainly consisted of 18 and 19 international economics and trade students from the Second Division of the School of International Education to participate together. Since the promotion of the event in March, the formation of the students' teams, the search for products and manufacturers, the internal selection in early April and the final in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province in early May, which lasted for more than 2 months, the students and tutors made full use of their spare time to prepare.
Based on their keen market insight and analysis of the international trade market, our students finally chose electronic products such as Bluetooth headphones and automatic sensor disinfectors to compete. The judges spoke highly of their innovative thinking, fluent English communication skills, solid basic business skills, good knowledge of international trade practices, excellent overall quality, and teamwork spirit. The young entrepreneurs won unanimous praise.
On 7th, The team arrived at the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Centre and, after a brief tidy-up, began to set up the exhibition.
In the following day, the competition kicked off. The NUS students performed with ease throughout, using their expertise in product information, packaging methods, trade terms, payment terms and shipment terms. The judges were very enthusiastic in their conversations, and they were always smiling and nodding in approval.
The National University Business Challenge International Trade Competition and the Business and Trade Exhibition is consist of competitions such as exhibition proposal, a poster design and merchandise display for a booth, a new product launching and trade negotiations. Faced with a series of challenges, our team steadily moves forward.
This year, after an intense preparation period, the team, under the leadership Mr. Wen Yesheng and Mr. Cao Di, strived for excellence in every aspect of the competition. After a day and a half of practical sessions in the live competition, the team competed fiercely with 210 participating teams and finally won the second prize and the third prize. The participation got fruitful results. The college has attached theoretical thinking to practices. We encourage students to participate in various skill competition activities.
Through this specialized competition, the students gained not only valuable practical experience, but also business practice in a certain platform, which greatly promoted the students' comprehensive ability. The participators combined their professional knowledge with real-life practical cases. It is in line with the university's objective of cultivating undergraduate application-oriented talents, by promoting the reform of our international economics in various aspects such as innovation training and practical teaching.
