In order to earnestly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement on education, effectively improve the quality of talent cultivation in our school, combine the actual development of evaluation and construction work in our school, closely focus on the implementation of the spirit of the undergraduate education work conference of the Ministry of Education, further improve the quality of talent cultivation in our school, and actively respond to the 'great discussion on the ideology of undergraduate education and teaching in the new era' proposed by the university. '

 

In the afternoon of April 22, 2021, all teachers and counselors of International Education School Department II carried out a great learning and discussion activity on the ideology of undergraduate education in the new era in Conference Room N203 of the Third Comprehensive Building of Huadu Campus. For this seminar, the College invited Associate Professor Shi Linyun from the Business School of Guangzhou Institute of Technology and Industry to give a lecturer, and Assistant Dean SunCaiping attended the event.

First, Assistant Dean Sun Cai Ping explained the necessity of the current study and discussion on undergraduate education in the new era, and profoundly interpreted the spirit of the national conference on undergraduate education in the new era. How to achieve the goal of talent training? What can I do about undergraduate classroom teaching? How can I reform and adjust the teaching content, teaching methods and course assessment? How do I understand the talent training objectives of the university? How do I integrate it with the professional training programme? What are the ways and means to integrate the concept of 'curriculum thinking and government' into the teaching of professional courses in applied undergraduate institutions? Teachers were encouraged to focus on the outstanding problems and difficulties in undergraduate education, and to consciously apply the educational concepts, teaching methods and technical means learned in the great discussion activities to the practice of innovative undergraduate education and teaching reform, so as to promote the continuous improvement of talent training quality.

Associate Professor Shi Linyun also spoke to all teachers about the interplay of Chinese and Western cultures, how teachers in the School of International Education can make use of their strengths combined with their overseas study experience to integrate into their teaching in the classroom of undergraduate teaching, and how teachers should be able to stand firm on the podium, have a clear mind, words in their mouths and skills in their hands. Vivid examples were given to illustrate the concrete implementation, and emphasis was placed on fully motivating students to teach in a student-centred way. She hoped that all teaching staff could go for further study, learn from everyone's style, think deeply, and promote the essential transformation of applied undergraduate education; she hoped that teachers could do a good job of teaching in a practical manner and continue to promote the integration of education and teaching, and she also hoped that young teachers and teams could improve and develop themselves in the theoretical study and practical work of undergraduate education.

Through this special study session, we can better deepen our teachers' understanding of the new undergraduate education, to unify teaching ideas and form a consensus idea on education, so as to implement them into future education and teaching work, further clarify their positioning and thinking in the new era of undergraduate education ideas, update the advanced ideas of the new era of undergraduate education ideas, and further improve the level of school operation.
