English Corner Review | 吐槽大会上线,英语原来还能这么聊!

5月8日晚,我院英语角活动在综Ⅱ-202智慧教室轻松开展。

本次英语角以“Rant & Relax——吐槽大会与解压室”为主题,围绕校园生活中的常见场景展开交流。从作息调整、学习节奏,到宿舍沟通与课堂互动,同学们通过emoji破冰、小组讨论与情景模拟等环节,在轻松自然的氛围中分享自己的想法,也逐渐学会如何更自然地表达情绪、沟通问题与回应他人。

原来英语不只是课堂里的回答问题,也可以成为分享生活、交流想法与建立共鸣的一种方式。

On the evening of May 8th, our English Corner activity was successfully held in Smart Classroom II-202.

Centered on the theme of “Rant & Relax,” this session focused on relatable situations from campus life, including time management, study routines, dormitory communication, and classroom interaction. Through emoji ice-breakers, group discussions, and role-play activities, students shared their thoughts in a relaxed atmosphere while gradually learning how to express emotions, communicate ideas, and respond to others more naturally in English.

Many students also discovered that English is not only for answering questions in class, but can also be used to share experiences, communicate with others, and build meaningful connections in daily life.

活动开始后,ASSAMOI GUY ROLAND老师通过“Emoji Guessing Game(表情猜猜猜)”和“Emoji Check-In(Emoji情绪签到)”带领大家进行破冰互动。

同学们根据emoji猜测对应情绪,再随机抽取表情进行无声模仿,由其他同学猜测情绪内容。轻松有趣的互动方式迅速活跃了现场气氛,也让大家逐渐熟悉与情绪相关的英语表达。

At the beginning of the activity, Teacher ASSAMOI GUY ROLAND led students through the “Emoji Guessing Game” and “Emoji Check-In” activities.

Students guessed emotions based on emojis and silently acted out randomly selected expressions while their classmates tried to identify the emotions. The fun and low-pressure activities quickly warmed up the atmosphere and helped students become more familiar with emotional vocabulary and expressions in English.

在前面的互动环节结束后,现场气氛也慢慢“热”了起来。同学们之间的交流越来越自然,教室里的聊天感也越来越明显。

随后进行的Sharing Time环节中,同学们自由分享了自己近期生活中的有趣经历与小尴尬。有人聊到课堂展示时,打开文件准备屏幕共享,结果微信聊天界面却忘记退出;也有人分享自己明明已经找了很久东西,最后却发现“原来一直拿在手里”的离谱瞬间。讲到激动时,台下同学一边笑一边点头:“这个我也遇到过!”

相比固定问题问答,这种更轻松开放的交流方式,也让大家逐渐进入“朋友聊天模式”。现场笑声不断,同学们在分享与倾听中慢慢放松下来,原本有些紧张的英语表达,也逐渐变得自然流畅。

After the earlier interactive activities, the classroom atmosphere gradually became warmer and more lively. Students communicated with each other more naturally, and the classroom slowly turned into a relaxed space filled with real conversations and laughter.

During the Sharing Time session, students freely shared funny and slightly awkward moments from their recent lives. Some talked about preparing for a classroom presentation and accidentally leaving their WeChat chat window open during screen sharing, while others shared moments like searching everywhere for something that had actually been in their hands the whole time. As the stories became more relatable, laughter quickly spread across the classroom.

Compared with structured question-and-answer activities, this freer communication style helped students enter a more natural “friends chatting” mode. Through sharing and listening, students gradually relaxed, and their English speaking became more comfortable and natural.

在接下来的情景模拟环节中,同学们围绕“作息调整”“宿舍沟通”以及“课堂互动”等校园生活场景展开角色扮演。

不少同学在互动过程中自然使用了贴近日常交流的表达。例如:

“Could you please be a little quieter?”

“I’m really tired because of my 8 AM class.”

“I get nervous when answering questions in class.”

面对“宿舍作息不一致”这样的熟悉场景时,同学们一边思考如何表达情绪,一边尝试用更自然的语气进行沟通。有的小组认真“协商”,也有同学越演越投入,现场互动感十足。

在关于“早八课程与时间安排”的情景中,同学们还围绕“sleepy”“exhausted”“half awake”等表达展开交流。SEGLAH PATIENCE AFI老师也不断提醒大家:“英语不只是把句子说出来,语气也很重要!”一句简单的“I’m tired”,有人说得像随口感叹,也有人说得像“刚睡醒还没缓过来”,不同语气一出来,整个对话瞬间真实了不少。

老师还鼓励大家适当加入表情、语调和肢体动作,让英语表达更有“聊天感”。几轮互动下来,同学们也慢慢发现,原来语气和情绪变化不仅能让角色扮演更自然,也会让自己的英语语感越来越顺。

During the role-play session, students acted out familiar campus situations related to daily routines, dormitory communication, and classroom interaction.

Many students naturally used practical daily expressions during the interaction, such as:

“Could you please be a little quieter?”

“I’m really tired because of my 8 AM class.”

“I get nervous when answering questions in class.”

When performing scenes related to different dormitory schedules and communication, students not only practiced expressing emotions in English, but also tried to communicate with more natural tone and reactions. Some groups seriously negotiated with each other, while others became increasingly immersed in their roles, making the classroom atmosphere lively and engaging.

During the role-play activities about early morning classes and time management, students also explored expressions like “sleepy,” “exhausted,” and “half awake.” Teacher SEGLAH PATIENCE AFI reminded everyone that “English is not only about saying the sentence correctly — tone matters too!” A simple sentence like “I’m tired” could sound completely different depending on the speaker’s emotion and delivery.

Teachers also encouraged students to add facial expressions, intonation, and body language to make conversations feel more natural and realistic. After several rounds of interaction, many students gradually realized that emotional tone and expression not only make role-play more authentic, but also help improve their English sense and speaking fluency naturally.

本期英语角围绕校园生活中的日常交流场景展开。emoji破冰、小组互动、自由分享与情景模拟层层推进,把英语慢慢带进真实交流与生活表达中。

从作息调整、课堂互动,到宿舍沟通与情绪表达,同学们一边交流、一边互动,也在轻松自然的氛围中越说越顺。活动过程中,大家不仅练习了表达情绪、回应朋友、分享经历等日常口语,也慢慢发现,原来英语不只是课堂里的回答问题,也可以像朋友聊天一样自然。

This English Corner focused on everyday communication situations from campus life. Through emoji ice-breakers, group interaction, sharing sessions, and role-play activities, students gradually brought English into real-life communication and daily expression.

From time management and classroom interaction to dormitory communication and emotional expression, students communicated naturally with one another in a relaxed atmosphere. Throughout the activity, students practiced expressing emotions, responding to friends, and sharing personal experiences in English. Many students also discovered that English is not only for answering questions in class, but can also be used naturally in everyday conversations.
